Project Description
Our clients purchased this home that had an existing flagstone patio. They were looking for a backyard that would inspire them to stay home and enjoy there backyard in all seasons. The idea was to offer a lagoon style spring/summer getaway with a fall/winter mountain retreat. Starting at the house we remodeled two bedroom level decks with stone tile flooring and a water proofing system to offer dry porches underneath. The porches open up to 4000 sq ft of pavers with a 700 sq ft putting green bordered by a hot tub. The hot tub is tucked away behind a stone seat bench. There are heated mats for snow melt that leave a path to the hot tub and the pavilion. The 20x40 kiln dried timber pavilion was installed using mortise & tenon joinery. The roofing is 2x6 tongue and groove planks. A see thru fireplace was installed with cast iron doors, TV above mantle, wood storage to the sides. The kitchen offers a 42" twin eagle grill, range hood, trash, burner, refrigerator, storage, cooler and margarita station. Walls with built in columns and gas torches border the upper patio. The center is left open for a view of the pool on the lower deck. The lower pool area offers a 1000 sq ft pool with two natural waterfalls, a diving rock, and a tanning ledge. The pool is bordered on two sides with lush planting. Even though the property is 40 acres the local mountain zoning regulations made it difficult to fit everything the client desired. We were able to make it work with creative grading, walls and elevation change. We even installed a fire hydrant by piping the bottom of the pool to a hydrant. I feel designed and built a back yard that fits the house style, handles 4 seasons, and offers both a rustic and lagoon feel as the client requested.
