The Grove at Grand Bay

Miami, FL United States

Project Description

Set to break ground at the end of 2012, the BIG-designed Grove at Grand Bay residences are making waves in Miami’s South Bayshore Drive neighborhood. Working with Raymond Jungles, Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates, Esrawe, DeSimone Consulting Engineers, and HNGS Engineers, the New York- and Copenhagen-based architecture firm developed a scheme for two twisting 20-story towers, comprising 96 apartments, in landscaped grounds on the former site of the Grand Bay Hotel. The towers’ concrete slabs are designed to cantilever well past the perimeter of the apartment floors in order to accommodate deep balconies and to shade the fully-glazed, 12-foot-high window walls on each apartment level. Developed by the Terra Group, the Grove at Grand Bay is targeting LEED Silver certification, and a completion date in 2014.
