The Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) recently announced the winners of its 38th annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards, honoring the finest architecture projects in the region. The awards program recognizes entire project teams whose developments improve the quality of architecture and enhance the urban fabric of Los Angeles. Seventeen categories of awards—including several in residential design—were presented.
In the Design Concept category, Tighe Architecture and owner West Hollywood Community Housing Corp., received the award for Affordable Low-Rise for the Sierra Bonita Housing project. Also, Ateliers Jean Nouvel, House & Robertson Architects, and owner SunCal Companies received the Design Concept award for Residential High-Rise for the 10000 Santa Monica Boulevard project.
The Housing award in the Sustainability category was given to Kappe Architects/Planners, owner LivingHomes, and Profile Structures INC – modular, for the LivingHome project.
In the Housing category, the Single-Family award was given to Marmol Radziner and Associates, Jerico Development, and owners Eric and Susanne Johnson for the Altamira Residence. Ankrom Moisan Associated Architects, Howard S. Wright Construction, and owner The South Group received the the Multifamily High-Rise award for the Luma project. The Multifamily Low-Rise award went to Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects, Archetype, and owner Habitat Group Los Angeles for the Habitat 825 project.
The Residential award in the Landscape Architecture category was given to ah'be landscape architects, Kato Landscape, The South Group Partnership, and the city of Los Angeles for the city-owned South Park Streetscape.
In the Mixed-Use category, the Design Concept award went to Gensler, Webcor Builders, and owner AEG for the Hotel and Residences at LA Live.
The Preservation award was given to Eric Lloyd Wright Architecture & Planning and Wiehle-Carr, Associated Architects, owner the Ennis House Foundation, and MATT Construction Corp. for the Ennis House Rehabilitation project.
Aleks Istanbullu Architects and owner/contractor Linear City, LLC received the Residential award in the Renovated Buildings category for The Biscuit Company Lofts.
