Project DescriptionThe owners wanted a modern villa that would embrace both its setting and their Arabian roots. They wished to live in a place that would remind them about themselves since they have made the decision to settle indefinitely in the Democratic Republic of Congo where they have their major businesses. Being a long-term investment, the owners wanted to live at home away from home. So we gave them an Arabian villa with glossy interiors, ornate architectural detail and luxury…
Villa Al-Faradje is a dialogue between an identity and a location, both disconnected by space and time. The client wished to live in the space of his Arabian original culture but in the place of his new home, DR Congo.
The villa is a shining “oasis of virgin white walls” in the middle of a heavy tropical vegetation situated in one of the “glowing” neighborhoods in Kinshasa.
Boasting an open-plan living with a kitchen, a dining area, a lounge and passage library in the same space with a guest restroom. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are also found on the ground floor while the upper floor is a self-contained “apartment” with a lounge, bathroom, bedroom and wardrobes overlooking the ensemble.
The exterior is adorned with Arabian motifs from the cleverly shaded veranda, the standalone “hut” aligned with an 8-shaped plushy pool surrounded by glorious vegetation.
