Project Description

Curvaceous geometry shapes this super insulated modern home on the outskirts of Phoenix Arizona, USA.
At 6000sf, this unique floor plan delights the owners and frequent visitors on a daily basis!
The shaded Main Entry is approached from a rising stepped garden path, leading up to the stone and exposed concrete landing where you will find a gentle, quiet water feature and custom stainless steel, glass and wood entry door; open this and venture deep into the core of the home.
You will find this unique feature on many Jeff Page designs; through careful arrangement of geometry, the visitor is delivered into the central core of the home, here to be greeted by the host and to observe several flowing directions at once. From this central orientation point, one begins to perceive the magic and mystery yet to be revealed in the undulating spatial volumes, spiraling out in several directions.
Ahead is the kitchen and breakfast room, to the right are the three bedrooms, (Master Upstairs) and to the left is a gentle ramp wandering down to the main living room, the bar and billiards, accented by a gurgling indoor water garden.
The entire ceiling areas are a brilliant series of overlapping smoothly curved wedges, separated by translucent polycarbonate panels. This combats the intense summer heat and light, but carefully allows indirect natural daylight moving throughout the deep interior of this unique desert home.
Following another gentle ramp in this home reveals the very private and secluded Meditation Room, entered through a double shoji door and having supple leather flooring with a large circular glass floor. Here it is ideal to sit and meditate while seeming to hover over the colorful koi pool below. At night the glass walls slide open, revealing the desert tranquility, while the below rippling water reflects dancing light up throughout the Zen Zone.
Blocking the intense summer sun was a prime objective here and accomplished with proper site orientation, massive roof overhangs, super-super insulated exterior walls and roof, ultra high efficiency water cooled A/C system and ample earth contact and below grade areas.
There is a shady garden path with foot bridge crossing over a deep desert wash, leading to the sculptural Desert Office siting just one meter below the xeriscape earth while below, completely underground and naturally cooled, sits the six car garage.
The main residence also has a 4 car below grade garage and lovely swimming pool with party patio in the backyard.
