Project Description

Founded in 1943, Scott Credit Union is a full service financial institution providing financial services for individuals and businesses. Scott Credit Union, like all credit unions, is a not-for-profit cooperative that offers banking services. SCU has grown since 1943 into a $900M organization with 15 locations in Southern Illinois. Due to this accelerated growth, it became apparent to the management team that a new headquarters facility was needed. Working with the shell architects to conceptualize the building, SCU hired Albers Studio + Design, Inc. as the interior architect and interior designer for the 50,000 sf project.

Ms. Albers led the Albers Studio + Design, Inc. team interfacing with SCU’s Facility Manager and CEO, the shell architect and the general contractor to develop the design concept. The interactive process with all team members through the conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, furniture, finish and equipment selection and specification, artwork selection, bidding, construction and project move-in was collaborative, smooth and efficient. The project is in the process of being LEED certified. Albers Studio + Design, Inc. were praised by the Chairwoman of the Board for its significant contribution to the project’s success at the recent ribbon cutting event.

The headquarters houses a branch operation with drive up, corporate human resources, training, accounting, call center, IT, account services and executive operations for the organization. For maximum flexibility to accommodate future growth, the 2nd floor is designed using demountable office walls and open plan. The site is located in a horticulture office park. To integrate the environment to the design, features such as walking paths, outdoor dining, 90% daylighting on the interior, and a creative café environment for employees to lunch at the facility were incorporated into the design.
