Project Description

This Private Residence was designed to be a modern escape from the client’s cold Canadian home with all the high end amenities including a meticulously designed powder room. The design approach consisted in thinking of ways that we could make the sink a display piece and not just for its functional use. Instead of hiding the basin in a cabinet, it is displayed on top of a stone plinth designed to look like a single block of stone. After the exploration of utilizing existing components in new ways, a tub filler was used as a faucet. Upon entering the powder room, your eyes are first drawn to the sink and then to the mosaic wall behind, which is framed with a dark stone that allows for the small tiles to pop. The juxtaposition in the use of color and various sized tiles gives the space a feeling of elegance, warmth, and intrigue.
