Project Descriptiondi Domenico + Partners has been providing operational planning and facilities management services to the Convention Center Operating Corporation since 1986. Initially asked to review and evaluate the Corporation’s building expansion plans for the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, dD+P continues its partnership with the Corporation in both running and maintaining the building.
Drawing on its understanding of the Javits Center and knowledge of the convention and tradeshow industry, dD+P was asked to develop a “library” of floor plans for various types of public and tradeshow exhibits in all of the Center’s halls. These plans have become the standard for those looking to organize their event in the Javits Center in the most efficient and productive manner.
dD+P also developed a series of expansion proposals as an outgrowth of the global scale investigation of projects similar in scope to the Javits Center. One of these, the Center’s North Pavilion, a supplemental 45,000-square foot exhibition level, has been implemented. The completed addition was built under the firm’s supervision and according to its custom design specifications. The firm is currently acting as Owner´s Representative for the $1.7 billion expansion.
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center’s vision to improve business and working environments consists of renovating interior spaces and reallocating various departments. A holistic approach to Javits Center resulted in a “Master Plan” for relocation and unification of departments to help improve efficiencies of common services. The renovations include meeting rooms, in-house shops and office services on Level 1; the Executive Administrative Area on Level 2; offices and storage areas on Level 3; and the reorganization of Level 4.
