Project DescriptionThe project is a house and architecture studio. It is located in a neighbourhood near the centre of the city of Bandung, in an urban area of single and double storey residential buildings .The site is 268 sam and faced to south. The construction begin in September 2013 and finished in July 2014.
The site is surrounded by buildings of many architecture styles. As a response to the surrounding buildings, the house is designed with simple cubic geometry. We aimed to create a compact and cozy house so it can be a sanctuary for its residents. The house designed with concern of its residents personal relationship. It is achieved by continuity between spaces. The split level in this house was created to optimise interactivity between each level of the house. The split level connected three main rooms in the house such as living room, dining room and private studio. The continuity is also created between outdoor and indoor spaces with main openings faced to east to let the flow of natural lighting to indoor spaces. The way in which natural light enters and is filtered by the building is constantly changing. There is also a transition spaces between indoor and outdoor to blend outdoor sensation and intimate indoor space. The house uses a reinforced concrete structure. The wood plank that has been used to mold concrete structure, was reused as railings, ceilings, door, stair stepping, and wall cover. The house design also concerning passive ventilation through its building mass placement and thin shape so the air can freely crossing through the building.
