Project Description

Brightview of Towson is an exciting senior living community located in the heart of Towson, Maryland. The new community offers a host of amenities including multiple dining options -a formal dining room, an indoor/outdoor cafe and a private dining room- as well as quiet spaces for reading, arts and crafts and hobbies. The community also has a fitness center with adjacent spa featuring barber and beauty facilities. Outdoor living features include patios and gardens with trellises and walking paths. Located close to the Towson Business District including Towson Town Center and Towson University, this community is part of a lively, walkable urban area. The community comprises 58 assisted living units and a 34-unit Alzheimer’s wing with private outdoor spaces and dining. The top two floors are dedicated to assisted living residents. Their spaces include a lounge with a fireplace, fitness room, spa, a library and activity rooms.

Brightview at Towson is part of a larger townhome community located on a redeveloped parcel adjacent to Towson’s Business District centered at York and Joppa Roads. The surrounding neighborhoods had concerns about the density of the new community and particularly the size of the building in relation to the existing rowhouses and Victorian single-family homes nearby.

The design of Brightview at Towson embraces the fabric of the neighborhood and reflects its context with the look of multiple townhomes. This breaks up the massing of the building along Burke Avenue which faces the neighborhood across the street and puts the community in the heart of this vibrant urban area. From the café and its outside terrace, residents can see children jump off their school bus in the afternoon and hear the bustle of York Road. The community employs students at nearby Towson University further improving intergenerational opportunities.

Brightview at Towson meets the definition of a high density development according to the USGBC LEED for Homes guideline.
