Project DescriptionFROM THE PLANNING TEAM:
As we look ahead, on behalf of both the city of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, we believe that pursuing an Olympics and Paralympics bid not only aligns with existing plans for the state's continued economic growth, but can also serve to accelerate the delivery of improvements in transportation, infrastructure, and housing. Put simply, the Olympics can help catalyze the long-term vision of the Commonwealth.
Much has already been done by the legislature and our community to assess the feasibility of hosting the Olympics and Paralympics, bringing us to this current important milestone, and for that we are grateful (read the Special Commission Report in its entirety here). For these next critical steps, we will rely on our greatest asset—our people—and work closely and collaboratively to better understand the intersection of our city and its citizens in planning a better tomorrow. As such, we are establishing a nonprofit organization to help centralize these efforts, and in the coming months we will organize a series of community meetings across the Commonwealth where we can gather information, exchange ideas, and solicit comments.
