The U.S. Green Building Council on Tuesday announced that it will co-host the two-day National Affordable Green Homes & Sustainable Communities Summit at the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in San Francisco this November. The Institute for Professional and Executive Development (IPED) also will co-host the summit.
"It's a unique opportunity to connect green development with community development,” said Jeffrey Lesk of IPED’s board in a statement. “By showcasing thought leaders in both of these industries, we can present the most innovative ideas and best examples of achieving cost-efficient, energy-saving green affordable housing and community development."
The event will include seminars on planning, financing, developing, and managing green affordable housing projects to boost awareness of the need for sustainable practices in the sector. Full and partial scholarships are available and applications will be accepted through Sept. 30. Attendees may purchase either a two-day pass that gives access to the summit as well as the Greenbuild Opening Plenary and day-one educational sessions, or a four-day pass that gives access to the summit, opening and closing events, and educational sessions on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
