Most of mid-century Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala’s approximately 100 serially produced lamps were devised from 1959 to 1961. Yet his earliest design, the Triennale, goes back to 1951 and was intended for display in the Finnish Pavilion at the Milan Triennale. Artek is giving the past another play with its duly inspired TW002 pendant lamp. Made from sand and opal glass, the etched, conical light is hand- and mouth-blown, and includes a 78-inch-long textile-coated cable. Artek, 212.219.0589; www.artek.fi.
