Tim Street-Porter is an award-winning architectural photographer whose work has appeared many times in the pages of Custom Home and residential architect magazines. Annie Kelly is a professional decorator and journalist who writes for lifestyle magazines, including the French version of Architectural Digest. This artistic husband-and-wife team recently produced a book chronicling seaside homes and offering decorating insight from famed designers.

Rooms to Inspire by the Sea is divided into two parts. The largest section covers 12 beach, cape, or island houses. Each one features an article describing the owners’ and designers’ intent (in several cases the owners are the designers), followed by pages of Porter’s fine-tuned photos. In part two of the book, Kellie and Porter gathered vignettes on various aspects ubiquitous to seaside living such as al fresco dining, swimming pools, and amassing collections of coral, shells, or sea glass. Published in April by Rizzoli, the 240-page book retails for $55.
