Homeowners want paint that goes on smoothly with little splatter and offers complete coverage with low or no odor. After quality and ease of application, people are looking for paint brands that also tout durability backed by warranty and ample selection.

Benjamin Moore maintained its top spot in the survey for the second year in a row with its score of 790 out of a possible 1,000 points. Also on the list: Sherwin-Williams with 788 points, BEHR with 785, and Dunn-Edwards with a total of 782. A main resource for those researching interior paint is advice from either friends or professionals. According to the survey results, most consumers research and select a paint brand first and then seek out stores where that paint is sold, rather than going to a store and deciding on a paint type while there.
