The elemental materials and forms at Pitchfork recall the miners' shacks of historic Crested Butte, Colo. For many of the homeowners, community parking barns place individual garages.

Pitchfork’s houses huddle close together so their residents can enjoy expansive, open-space views rather than large yards.

The architects drew the painted units' vivid color palette from the region's Victorian-era housing.
