ONE 10 STUDIO Architects were presented with a challenge: design a four-bedroom farmhouse on a compact city lot in Bloomington, Indiana. From the outside, the 3,300-square-foot- home looks like a traditional farmhouse, but once visitors step in, they are presented with an urban city loft.

Later additions often occur in farm structures, so the architects added double-gable side massing to reflect this trend. The shell of the home, which was erected and completed in four days, is encased in structurally insulated panels, making it incredibly energy efficient.

The owner of the home wanted a direct connection to the backyard and gardens. To accommodate this, the architects included a sculptural balcony and covered patio as direct links from both floors to the outdoor spaces.
