Parsons The New School for Design has launched a Master of Fine Arts degree in Interior Design, open for enrollment for the Fall 2009 semester. The graduate program is designed to address the special challenges and opportunities of contemporary interior design.

The program's two-year studio-centered, research-oriented format integrates history, theory, design, material experimentation, and sustainability and addresses the role, validity, and purpose of interior design, according to Lois Weinthal, Parsons' director of interior design and principal of design firm Weinthal Works.
