The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has inaugurated its 84th president: Marshall E. Purnell, FAIA, a principal of Devrouax + Purnell Architects and Planners in Washington, D.C. Purnell served as AIA first vice president in 2007 and succeeds RK Stewart, FAIA. Prior to his election as president, Purnell was president of the AIA Washington, D.C., chapter in 2003, and Mid-Atlantic Regional Director from 2003 to 2006. He was named to the AIA College of Fellows in 1991.
