    In the BLS’s disappointing March 2013 employment report, the economy added only 88,000 jobs. The architectural and engineering services sector, however, added 2,100 jobs, and the construction industry added a somewhat less-enthusiastic 18,000 new jobs.

  • ADP: 158,000 Jobs Added in March, but No New Construction Jobs

    ADP and Moody’s Analytics released their monthly employment report on Wednesday morning, which says that the U.S. economy added 158,000 jobs in March. There were, however, no net jobs added in the construction industry, a first in half a year.

    February’s Architecture Billings Index, released in mid-March by the American Institute of Architects, shows growth in the design and construction industry for the seventh consecutive month—as well as a billings score of 54.9, the highest for the ABI since November 2007.

    Payroll-processing company ADP, in conjunction with Moody’s Analytics, released its monthly employment report on Wednesday. They report that the national economy added 198,000 jobs in February, 21,000 of which were in the construction industry.

    January’s Architecture Billings Index, released today by the American Institute of Architects, shows growth in the design and construction industry for the sixth consecutive month—as well as a billings score of 54.2, the highest for the ABI in nearly six years.

  • January Jobs: Construction Adds; Architecture and Engineering Loses

    In the BLS’s first employment report of 2013, the economy added 157,000 jobs. The architectural and engineering services sector was down 300 jobs, but the construction industry added 28,000 new jobs for the month and nearly 300,000 in the past year.

    Payroll-processing company ADP, in conjunction with Moody’s Analytics, released its monthly employment report on Wednesday. They report that the national economy added 192,000 jobs, 15,000 of which were in the construction industry.

  • Architectural Billings Index Continues to Grow for Fifth Consecutive Month

    December’s Architectural Billings Index, released today by the American Institute of Architects, have increased for the fifth consecutive month, albeit at a slower rate. As in November, three out of four of the nation’s regions and all four of the industry’s sectors show growth.

  • December Jobs Report: Architecture and Engineering Add 3,800 New Jobs

    In the BLS’s final employment report of 2012, the national economy added 155,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate remained at 7.8 percent. In addition to the architecture and engineering additions, the construction industry added 30,000 new jobs for the month.
