The AIA National Convention takes place May 17 to 19 just down the street from the residential architect offices at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The theme “Design Connects" is especially relevant with residential architects, who strive to create spaces where homeowners can connect to family and friends, their environment, culture, and history. At least eight of the conference sessions will focus on residential practice, many of them led by well-known, award-winning architects. Topics include passive house design, new regionalism, BIM for residential architecture, architect-led design/build, and more. Dennis Wedlick, Frank Harmon, Peter Pfeiffer, and Luis Jauregui are just a few of the presenters.
