Submissions are now being accepted for the American Institute of Architects' (AIA) 2011 Diversity Recognition Program. Created in 2008, the Diversity Recognition Program honors architects and firms who have significantly contributed, and shown exemplary commitment, to diversifying the architecture field so that it reflects society, embraces alternative practice models, and opens the doors to greater opportunities within the profession for a greater variety of individuals.

Each year up to 12 entries are selected for recognition as Diversity Best Practices and added to the AIA's Architect's Knowledge Resource to provide examples for other firms intending to implement similar programs within their own organizations or communities.

Entries from AIA members and non-members will be accepted for the 2011 awards program until Feb. 9, 2011. Jury-selected winners will be recognized with an award, profiled in AIArchitect and on the AIA Diversity website, included in the AIA Architect's Knowledge Resource, and acknowledged during the AIA National Convention with a program exhibit and an awards presentation ceremony.
