Lolita by Ron Arad
David Levene Lolita by Ron Arad

The ephemeral gets timeless when architects and artists represent the digital age in crystal. Fourteen designers accepted Swarovski's challenge to pair the two  for an exhibit at London's Design Museum, Digital Crystal, including Ron Arad, Maarten Baas, Random International, and Yvés Behar. Arad's Lolita (shown) at first appears as a traditional chandelier, but upon second glance, is lit up with digital letters, as if a Times Square news ticker was wrapt around itself and hung in a living room. The exhibit will also include some pieces from Swarovski's archives. Even if you can't make it to London, the Design Museum wants public interaction: just tweet Lolita a message at #digitalcrystal. Through Jan. 13. •
