The focus of this course is on the kitchen sink in residential applications, developed for the general design/build and design/bid/build markets. The key components of the course will relate to consumer research on kitchen sink and faucet selection and usage, and how the data should be understood by architects and kitchen designers and the like in their interpretation of functionality, development of kitchen designs, and selection of materials and fittings. The inclusion of interesting and little-known facts about kitchen sink usage will help present a clear picture to participants of common myths, misperceptions, and mistakes in kitchen design. The research and presentation will focus mainly on sinks but will also draw on knowledge about counters, cabinetry, flooring, lighting, room layout and the like.
