John Hancock Center Construction, Chicago, by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. Designer Bruce Graham designed this towering skyscraper with structural engineer Fazlur Khan. It became public in 1965 and is used for commercial space, office space, apartments, parking, an observatory and more. It stands 1449 feet in the air and is recognized by its tapered silhouette and X bracing.

United Nations Building, New York by Harrison & Abramovitz et al.
Conceived in the late '40s and completed in 1952, the UN Building was the collaborative effort of a dream team of architects from around the world. The team was headed by American Wallace K. Harrison and included France's Le Corbusier and Sweden's Sven Markelius. The UN Complex comprises four buildings: Secretariat, the General Assembly, the Conference Building and the Dag Hammarskjold Library. The UN has been called the ultimate realization of the International Style.
