A monograph depicting the complete works of Tadao Ando has been updated to include recent designs and on the boards projects. This newly revised 660-page volume illustrates and describes the numerous houses, museums, and other buildings designed by the legendary architect. Ando is the only architect to have won all four of the discipline’s most prestigious prizes—the Pritzker, Carlsberg, Praemium Imperiale, and Kyoto Prize—in addition to many other honors and awards.  Using his knowledge of traditional Japanese design to inform his light-filled, contemporary concrete aesthetic, Ando is known for creating complex yet serene buildings anchored by a 3D circulation piece that defines spaces both inside and out.

This volume covering Ando’s spatial sculptures originally was published in 2007 with project descriptions written by art historian Philip Jodidio, who also has authored monographs on Norman Foster, Zaha Hadid, and Richard Meier. The 2012 edition of Ando. Complete Works 1975-2012 will be released later this month by Taschen for a publisher’s list price of $49.99.
