Best of Green, Best of Class

Submit A Comment | View Comments has released its annual "Best of Green Awards for Design and Architecture," and the list of 28 concepts, architects, and projects includes several in the residential design category. Interface Studio Architects, the Clayton i-house, Kieran Timberlake, and Hometta are just a few of the "Best of Green 2010" winners. Read about all of the winners.


It's not surprising that during the economic downturn emphasis has shifted away from pure aesthetics and refocused on performance. These days, people have neither the money nor the patience for high-priced ideals and pie-in-the-sky concepts that may or may not deliver on their promises. They're still looking for innovation and are willing to accept change, but it must be backed by solid design and planning, and it must deliver solid results. This year, TreeHugger focused on the practitioners who are taking on tough challenges such as downtown revitalization and social housing, as well as the innovators who are leading the way and changing how sustainability is understood, practiced, measured, and received.
