Here's the view from my borrowed space in Hanley Wood's DC office. I've been impressed on this visit with how my old hometown seems to be thriving, and that leads me to reflect on how cities in general will fare in the coming post-recession. Very well indeed, says Alan Ehrenhalt, author of The Great Inversion and the Future of the American City. And, while we're at it, here's an appealing experiment in living sustainably, economically, and well in a small urban apartment.--b.d.s.
