James L. Cutler, FAIA, will be awarded the 2012 AIA Seattle Medal of Honor on June 16 for promoting and contributing to outstanding design in the region. In addition, AIA Seattle will honor other architects and professional partners who produce innovative design solutions and imaginative techniques for the built environment. “Good design makes a difference, but the architectural community can’t do it alone,” states executive director Lisa Richmond in the awards announcement. “We honor not only our own outstanding members, but those visionary leaders with whom we partner to achieve our shared goals.”
Other 2012 honorees include Rachel Minnery, AIA, LEED AP, who will receive the Young Architect Award for her dedication to environmentally and socially responsible design and disaster-response work, and Preservation Green Lab, which will accept an Allied Organization Award. Honorary AIA Seattle memberships will be granted to Washington state representative Hans Dunshee and Tom Marseille, an engineer, author, and public speaker devoted to high-performance building.
