The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has extended the deadline for entering the 2011 Diversity Recognition Program. Originally slated to end on Feb. 9, submissions now will be accepted through Feb. 23.
Created in 2008, the Diversity Recognition Program honors architects and firms who have significantly contributed, and shown exemplary commitment, to diversifying the architecture field so that it reflects society, embraces alternative practice models, and opens the doors to greater opportunities within the profession for a broader variety of individuals.
Each year up to 12 entries are selected for recognition as Diversity Best Practices and added to the AIA's Architect's Knowledge Resource to provide examples for other firms intending to implement similar programs within their own organizations or communities.
Non-AIA member submissions will be accepted alongside those of AIA members. Visit the AIA's Diversity and Inclusion program webpage for information about eligibility and submission guidelines.
